Saudi Valleys and Vistas: Uncovering the Natural Splendour of KSA

Our extraordinary journey starts in Al Kharj, 75km east of Riyadh. After a safety briefing, we’ll head south to Howtat Bani Tamim, an interesting old town on the Tropic of Cancer. Feel the exhilaration build within you as we leave the urban landscape behind, passing through small towns, verdant farms, and glimpsing the remnants of abandoned gas stations. This is where the true sense of remoteness takes hold, and the allure of the unknown beckons.

Our night will be spent wild camping amidst mesmerizing sand dunes. Enjoy Arabian hospitality, campfire stories and stargazing under an inky black sky.

Immerse yourself in the awe-inspiring beauty of the Rub Al Khali, the world’s largest continuous sand dune desert. As we bid farewell to our hotel, our southwards journey unfolds, treating us to breathtaking vistas of majestic escarpments and undulating dunes. Our destination awaits—a stunning desert area where vast stretches of sand meet towering rock massifs adorned with captivating formations. Here, at the southernmost point of our tour, we find ourselves some 85 kilometers from the Yemen border. As the sun begins to set,we will make camp on the very western edge of the Rub Al Khali.   Prepare to be captivated by the serene beauty of the desert as you witness the sunset casting shadows on the beautiful rocks and dunes.

After three nights on the edge of the Rub Al Khali, we bid it goodbye and venture into the picturesque foothills of the Asir mountains. Tonight, we will embrace the tranquility of the wilderness as we set up a wild camp in a stunning wadi. Before settling in, we’ll embark on a meandering drive, allowing us to discover the awe-inspiring rock formations that adorn the landscape. As the sun begins its descent, casting a warm glow, we’ll find ourselves surrounded by acacia trees and distant mountains, creating a breathtaking backdrop for an unforgettable sunset. Gather around the campfire, savor a delicious camp supper, and immerse yourself in the beauty of nature.

On this, our final day of driving, we set our course eastward, embarking on a remarkable journey through a wadi adorned with awe-inspiring rock formations reminiscent of Al Ula. Along the way, we pass by goat and camel farms, immersing ourselves in the rural charm of the region. Our adventure takes a cultural turn as we stop at an old village, marveling at its architecture that tells tales of a bygone era. Ascending an escarpment, we are rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of expansive farmlands and endless desert stretching for miles around.

As the day draws to a close, we settle into a comfortable local hotel in Al Kharj, ready to enjoy the comforts it offers. We venture just across the street to a lovely Arabic restaurant for our farewell dinner, a time to reflect on the incredible experiences we’ve had throughout the past week.
